Reflection - People important to you

Source (book): "Faithful to the end", Chapter 12, Question 4, Page 175.

Paul revealed a healthy holistic perspective of the Christian life.
PHOTO: Paul revealed a healthy holistic perspective of the Christian life. It is not limited to the spirit and its needs, but the life of the spirit is also lived out in a physical body and expressed through the mind and relationships with people. These were real people, with whom Paul developed lasting friendships, and whose presence he dearly missed as he ran the last lap of his race.
We also have a list of people who have been or are important to us now. Whether we have or have not developed a warm and hospitable attitude towards them, we can pray that they confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord,” and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, so that we will be saved. We also by the grace of God seek to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Make a list of people who have been or are important to you now. Is there anyone you have neglected lately? Pray for all of them.

Paul was a man who loved God wholeheartedly. As a result, he also loved God's people and the people of this broken world. In his many relationships, Paul developed a warm and hospitable attitude towards others. He had a wide network of friends, colleagues, and brothers and sisters in Christ. In this final epistle, he continued to mention names of people who were dear to him (2 Timothy 4:19-21). These were real people, with whom Paul developed lasting friendships, and whose presence he dearly missed as he ran the last lap of his race. Like his Lord, he loved his friends to the end. John's gospel records: "When Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end" (John 13:1 ESV). [1]

St. Paul was a man of humility.
PHOTO: St. Paul was a man of humility. He knew that despite his pivotal role in the spread of the Gospel, his strength was only found in acknowledging his weakness and allowing himself to be completely absorbed by Christ until he could say, “I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). It was precisely the explosive combination of Paul’s humility and his brash zeal that made him such an effective Christian, truly another Christ. He teaches us what it looks like to preach the Gospel without fear while also living a deep humility that causes us to only seek only Christ.
Paul was a man who loved God wholeheartedly. He also loved God's people and the people of this broken world. In his many relationships, Paul developed a warm and hospitable attitude towards others. His social needs were met in legitimate and godly ways from his a wide network of friends, colleagues, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

In sharing various needs as he faced death, Paul revealed a healthy holistic perspective of the Christian life. It is not limited to the spirit and its needs, but the life of the spirit is also lived out in a physical body and expressed through the mind and relationships with people. In all these areas, Paul was human like all of us, with various needs to be met legitimately by the grace of God, and which enabled him to live a life pleasing to God. At the heart of such a life, of course, is the spiritual realm, which is the focus of the next chapter (13). [1]

Is there anyone you have neglected lately?
My immediate family members are closest to me. We stay or met each other almost daily. It could be a simple gathering for meals or festival celebration. We share our needs, activities and time together. We take care of each other, just like any other family would have done.

Some relatives lived some distant away and we make the effort to meet up yearly. Others we communicate through the phone and by ways of messaging. When not possible to meet or communicate, we gather information about their well-beings through other relatives. If the need arise, we would settle aside the time to visit them. Most of the cases are with urgency.

A special and unique group of aunties and uncles from the PCN (Park Connector Network), which we have the opportunity to meet almost every early morning when we went for the morning walk. We would spent a few minutes chit-chating about anything of interest. Sometime it is just a simple morning greeting and each of us go on our own ways because of time constraint. When opportunity permits, we walk together along the same path of the PCN, along the reservoir. It could be as many as 3 to 5 of us together.

We have manage to take small steps to meet more people not close to us. We have yet to form fellowship through our relationship with Jesus Christ. I believe the time will come when God give us the opportunity and inspired us to develop a "tiny" church.

Because of our early morning activities at the PCN, we manage to meet people who are not close to us.

Pray for all of them.
"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9).

I pray that all who have been or are important to me will follow the verse Romans 10:9.

"For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." (Romans 10:10).

Just like Paul a human like all of us, with various needs to be met legitimately by the grace of God, and which enabled us to live a life pleasing to God.

Dear Lord, we pray that we declare with our mouth that 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, so that we will be saved. Thank You for providing for us and by the grace of God protect and guide us to live a life pleasing to God. Through Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!
