PHOTO: Desaru Fruit Farm, reminiscent view of our early childhood and kampong days. The environment is full of fresh & green with animals chattering peacefully. Otherwise is a very quiet atmosphere and simple life.
I still have many recollections of the past experiences when walking and living with the fauna and flora.

PHOTO: Friends and colleagues gathering together for a much needed meal and rest. We are really blessed with such beautiful company and good food.

PHOTO: Breadfruit trees and a hint of fine clear weather ahead. Huge lovely green above and the bright blue sky beyond. This is one kind of present which we have took for granted. Now is the time, now is the moment, to appreciate the beauty and inner peace that nature can offer.

PHOTO: Artocarpus altilis or breadfruit tree is from broad tree up to 20 m high with leaves 30-50 cm long that are thick, leathery and lobed. The greenish seedless fruits are round, mealy and about 20-25 cm in diameter. They are cooked or baked and used in the same way as potatoes. Abundant on Silhouette but rarely used as food at the present.

PHOTO: Breadfruit trees and the serene & tranquil blue sky high above. Our creator, God, has being kind to us, providing the much slogged relaxation and happiness while we worked diligently .

PHOTO: Dragon Fruit and rows of jack-fruit trees after this exotic fruit of the far east. The welcome shades are plentiful but still not enough compared to our mobile umbrella.

PHOTO: Bitter gourd, a potential herbal medicine for a lot of ailments, particularly in treating diabetes.

PHOTO: The twining plant around the specially constructed metal structure provides enough shade to cool the weary tourists.

PHOTO: Simple but practical area under the cool shade, to catch up on the day's events, and for the guide to continue with the farm's introduction.

PHOTO: "Ba-long-long" fruit

PHOTO: "Ba-long-long" fruit. Unripe ba long long has green/brown skin that is hard and the skin need to be remove and eat the fruit with either plum powder or prawn paste, as in Chinese rojak.

PHOTO: Banana plant and "Devil's fruit" plant. There are many different species of banana plants but mostly grow in groups with thick vegetation.

PHOTO: Guava plant. The guava, with its strong, rich aroma, is a large berry with diameter around 2 to 15 centimetres, and weighs ranging from 10 grams to 1 kilogram.

Papayas may be very helpful for the prevention of atherosclerosis and diabetic heart disease. Papayas are an excellent source of vitamin C as well as a good source of vitamin E and vitamin A (through their concentration of pro-vitamin A carotenoid phytonutrients), three very powerful antioxidants.

PHOTO: Poisonious banana and cannot be eaten (fruits are growing upwards). What is the purpose of growing them?

PHOTO: Rose apple / Jambu Air (Eugenia aquea) wrapped with thin colourful plastic bags to protect against insects. The pink plastic bags brighten up the atmosphere, just like Christmas is coming.

Flowers are 2-4", with hundreds of beautiful white stamens that attract nectar loving insects.

PHOTO: The best part of the farm's harvest is the Fruit tasting.

PHOTO: Fruit tasting is a proud event hosted by the farmers who in primitive ways are trying their best to make the guests feel welcome and to enjoy as much as possible. Such kampong spirit is unimaginable in today's society but such is the unmistakable amount of efforts put in by the simple folks.

PHOTO: Fruit tasting and more tasting. No rules, no complicated regulations and no boundaries between anybody, but just the simple dying energy for the tourists to feel satisfied and happy.
