In response to AsiaOne's queries, MOH said it was aware of the number of confirmed cases being leaked and has made a police report. Police investigations are ongoing.

Former singer-actress Foyce Le Xuan (乐轩 Lè xuān) may be known more for her freakishly good luck in 4D recently, but she's also developed an affinity for a different type of numbers.

The 40-year-old has been speculating the number of daily new Covid-19 cases on her social media pages, hours before the Ministry of Health's (MOH) official updates.

While the source of her information is unclear, her predictions and the official numbers appear to be similar.

Foyce first posted on April 15 that there were "443 cases and counting".

MOH later announced that there were 446 confirmed cases that day.

The following day, Foyce said that there would be 728 new cases, some four hours before the authorities announced the same figure.

However, her most recent post this afternoon (April 17) seemed to have missed the mark — she claimed that there would be 1146 cases, while MOH reported 623 new cases in a statement released this evening.

When questioned by a commenter, Foyce stuck to her guns, saying: "They half it. Cos too many cases [sic]."

But Foyce is far from the only person indulging in speculation about the daily Covid-19 statistics.

Case numbers have also surfaced on other online platforms such as HardwareZone ahead of official confirmation.

While it is unclear if what Foyce has done is against the law, others have got in trouble for leaking confidential information on Covid-19.

A 37-year-old woman and 38-year-old man were arrested for leaking a draft of a media release about the Covid-19 school closures on April 3, before the information was officially announced to the public.

In relation to that case, the police had said the Government takes a serious view of any wrongful communication of confidential information, and will deal firmly with anyone who does so.

Foyce first made headlines in 2010 when she accused film director Jack Neo of making sexual advances on her in the wake of his cheating scandal. However, Jack has denied her allegations.
