This F16 fighter aircraft on Lim Chu Kang Road made for a surreal sight after the Republic of Singapore Air Force's Exercise Torrent was held yesterday (13 November 2016) morning.

The event saw a 2.5km stretch of the road converted into a temporary aircraft runway where planes took off and landed in quick succession.

It is the seventh such exercise since 1986 but the first time that the new F-15SG planes have taken part.

'Summon auntie' - a silent killer who walks with an ominously carefree spring in her step.
PHOTO: 'Summon auntie' - a silent killer who walks with an ominously carefree spring in her step. If she lived in a fairy tale, she would stop every now and then to smell the flowers. Every stop she makes brings out the tell-tale chug-chug of her ticket- issuing machine.

Our Land Transport Authority (LTA), decided to add to the Christmas cheer by announcing that it will embark on a new system of fines for illegal parking. The "first adjustment in two decades", the new system will see errant motorists pay about 50 per cent more in fines if it is their second offence within a year. So that S$70 parking ticket for parking on double- yellow lines becomes S$110, and continues to be S$110 for each subsequent offence until you sober up and manage to keep a clean sheet for 12 months.

Meanwhile, for your wallet's sake, that sweetest toothy smile and a friendly wave from an outstretched hand may help.
