It represents the Singapore spirit that lives in the things we do, and behind how we do them. The stamp set is a reflection of Singapore’s optimism and confidence for the future.

Singapore, 7 August 2015 - Produced by Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) in partnership with the National Parks Board (NParks), ‘Singapore Botanic Gardens UNESCO World Heritage Site’ commemorative stamps will be issued today to celebrate the inscription of the Singapore Botanic Gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Mr Woo Keng Leong, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Postal Services at SingPost, said, "This is Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an important milestone for us as a nation and to mark the significance of this event, SingPost is very pleased to be able to partner NParks to produce the commemorative stamps, and having our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong unveil it today. Its historic 19th century garden landscape is well preserved and includes the earliest ornamental designed lake in Singapore. Home to numerous heritage trees and a tract of primary rainforest, the Gardens is less than a 10-minute walk from the shopping belt in Orchard Road. The Gardens was inscribed as Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.

The Gardens was ranked the number one park in Asia in TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for attractions in 2014. In 2012, it clinched the inaugural Garden of the Year Award by the Canadian Garden Tourism Council. In 2008, it was awarded the Michelin three-star rating and selected by Time Magazine as Asia’s Best Urban Jungle.

DO YOU have a mobile data line with StarHub? If so, congratulations, because you are currently enjoying the world's fastest 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network offered by a telco.

This is based on collated survey results from LTE network users all over the world released last Wednesday by independent network coverage checker OpenSignal, better known for its smartphone app that boosts your cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

The results are collected quarterly, with the latest findings showing StarHub in the top spot for having an LTE download speed of 38Mbps on average, the fastest LTE network offered by a telco globally.

Vodafone, a telco in Romania, is the second fastest with 36Mbps. In third spot is Denmark's TDC with 35Mbps, while No. 4 is South Korea's Olleh with 34Mbps.

Local rivals Singtel and M1 are doing pretty well for themselves, clinching the fifth and sixth-fastest spots at 32Mbps and 30Mbps respectively.

While StarHub's speeds may be unbeatable, it is not quite as good as its rivals when it comes to LTE coverage.

Singtel has 88 per cent LTE network coverage on our island, putting it ninth on the list of telcos around the world and M1 ranking 12th with 86 per cent coverage. StarHub trails behind at No. 35 with its 77 per cent coverage.

Singapore does very well for LTE speeds overall, ranking second in a list of about 70 countries and territories for having the best average speed - 33Mbps - surpassed only by New Zealand clinching the top spot with a country average of 36Mbps.

Taking third spot is Romania with 30Mbps and South Korea is No. 4 with 29Mbps.

However, LTE coverage in Singapore is not as impressive, as the country holds fifth place at 84 per cent.

Hong Kong and Kuwait are both ahead of Singapore with 86 per cent coverage each.

First place went to South Korea, which boasts 97 per cent LTE coverage. Only Japan, with 90 per cent coverage, and South Korea have LTE coverage above the 90th percentile.

The survey's data is collected using the OpenSignal app, and the information is anonymously collected via the app's data-collecting engine to produce its findings.

Some 325,000 global OpenSignal LTE users were sampled for the survey from June to August. The data comes from users of OpenSignal's Android app and iOS data was not included.
