For most fans of the royal family, meeting the Queen would make their lives complete.

But today an elephant named Donna didn't just meet the Queen, she got hand-fed a banana by Her Majesty.

And the 7-year-old Asian Elephant could not have looked more delighted.

The Queen - accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh - was opening a new centre for elephant care at Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire, near London when she met Donna.

The Queen also met a baby elephant called Elizabeth, who was named after Her Royal Highness.



The Centre is home to a herd of nine Asian elephants and is set in 30 acres of land, including baby Elizabeth - named after Her Majesty.
