A new rumour linking her to Tony Leung Chiu Wai (梁朝伟 Liáng Cháo Wěi) seemed to have drawn the ire of mainland singer Cheng Xiao (Chinese: 程潇 Chéng xiāo; Korean: 성소).

As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who was a former member of the South Korean-Chinese group WSJN, was alleged by the tabloids to have been having an affair with the married Hong Kong star.

The article, titled "Tony Leung (梁朝伟 Liáng Cháo Wěi) welcomed illegitimate child in Japan and angered Carina Lau (刘嘉玲 Liú Jiā Líng)", alleged that the "Shang-Chi" star had been seeing Cheng Xiao (Chinese: 程潇 Chéng xiāo; Korean: 성소) and that she has given birth to his baby. It also alleged that he also bought her a property in Japan.

In response to the gossip, Cheng Xiao's studio shared a screenshot of the article and added the word "Fake" in big red characters. It also added in the caption, "It's outrageously false!!"

Her fans also dug up several photos showing her itinerary for this year, with one saying that the singer had been participating in various shows, including those that include dance.

In 1990, during the filming of Days of Being Wild, Lau was abducted for several hours, and topless photos of her were taken. At the time, local papers, through Reuters news agency, reported that Lau was kidnapped, though a police report was not filed. Tony Leung Chiu-wai has said that Lau never wanted to talk about what happened in those missing hours with anyone, including him.
Lau revealed in 2008 that she was abducted by four men working for a triad boss, as "punishment" for having refused a film offer. She said that she had not been taken advantage of during her two-hour ordeal. [3]

Reflection - Joanie Yoder - His Good Purpose

Romans 8:28 - how easily and how often this Bible reference rolls off our tongues! But perhaps we need to grasp more fully what this verse is really saying.

Randy Alcorn, in a book he has co-authored with his wife Nanci, offers some insights on Romans 8:28. He quotes the New American Standard Bible (NASB) translation of this verse: "God causes all things to work together for good." Randy points out that it doesn't say each individual thing is good, but that God works them together for good.

Recalling his boyhood days, Randy tells how he often watched his mother bake cakes. One day, when she had all the ingredients set out - flour, sugar, baking powder, raw egg, vanilla - he sneaked a taste of each one. Except for the sugar, they all tasted horrible. Then his mother stirred them together and put the batter in the oven. "It didn't make sense to me," he recalls, "that the combination of individually distasteful things produced such a tasty product."

Randy concludes that God likewise "takes all the undesirable stresses in our lives, mixes them together, puts them under the heat of crisis, and produces a perfect result."

Let's look beyond our immediate circumstances and remember that God has an ultimate good purpose.

When things look bad, don't forget: God is good.
