Singapore funeral director Angjolie Mei paid a moving tribute to the late actor in a Facebook post at around midnight, Saturday (Jan 26).

She helped to prepare Aloysius Pang's body for his final "red carpet".

Singapore funeral director Angjolie Mei paid a moving tribute to the late actor in a Facebook post at around midnight, Saturday (Jan 26).

Angjolie's team was tasked to prepare the 28-year-old's body for the wake, which began at noon today.

She shared that her "heart broke", "when the lid of the coffin opened".

"I held back my tears because I have a job to do. To make you presentable. To make you stylo milo. To make you yantao yantao (handsome)," added Angjolie.

The 37-year-old director of funeral services company The Life Celebrant wrote that she'd never met the actor, but wished they'd been able to meet under a different circumstance.

Noting that he loved the colour black, she wrote:

"We changed you into your favourite black outfit. Your stubbles, we delicately trimmed. Your signature eyebrows, we carefully brushed. Your beautiful face, we gently touched up. Your hairstyle, your stylist gingerly styled to perfection. Now, you are ready to walk down the red carpet."


Hundreds turned up at the venue of the wake on Friday night (Jan 25) even before the public memorial was due to start.

Angjolie's post has since been shared more than 1,100 times as of Saturday night, attracting more than 80 comments -- not all of them positive.

Detractors accused her of self-promotion and questioned if she had sought permission from Aloysius' family before releasing "sensitive" details of the embalming process to the public.

Others, however, thanked her for doing her job, believing that she had no hidden agenda in posting her remarks.

Aloysius died on Wednesday (Jan 23) after suffering serious chest and abdominal injuries from an accident during a Singapore Armed Forces military exercise in New Zealand.

Aloysius Pang's NS mate remembers actor's kindness and competence

It's been an honour serving with Aloysius Pang, so says a fellow NSman.

We've heard fellow celebrities pay tribute, politicians offer their condolences and the heartbreak of a girlfriend.

Yap Baofa, a signaller in Aloysius' battalion, described in a Facebook post an Aloysius we've come to know since he died on Jan 23 - hardworking, trustworthy and overall just a good human being.

Accompanied by a picture of a black ribbon, here's the post:


I don't like him, and I always have the impression that he don't like me too.

ICT in Singapore I always had the impression he's the guy who does nothing, sit in the tonner and seldom get called up for duties.. I'm not well liked by him too, me the signaler, always look like the slacker, just sit in the bronco while tech squad does the real work..

But this ICT it was different. Our battalion fired live rounds. That's when I saw Aloyious worked hard. For the 3 days I was out in the field, I hear my MTO keep calling for Aloyious for advice.. He is well trusted by the team.. knows his stuff, giving very clear advices and suggestions to our MTO on what actions to take on the repair of the guns..

I remember him as the guy who always sit opposite of me in the bronco behind the driver..

I remember him being the guy who brings me my meals, as I'm still in the signaller seat manning comms..

I remember him being the guy who looks up at me when I changed the anntena on top of the bronco when it was raining to make sure I don't fall..

I remember him, being the guy that when I sprained my leg this ICT and was about to be sent back to camp, the guy who carried my field pack, riffle and helmet to me..

I remember the last words exchanged that day, was to take care, rest well.. And thank you..

Rest In Peace Aloysius..

Yap illustrates how his opinion of Aloysius evolved over the years serving in the same reservist unit.

He believed that the actor was the proverbial National Service (NS) slacker and that the feelings were mutual.

Aloysius was an armament technician in the 268th Battalion Singapore Artillery, while Yap's vocation crossed paths with the former.

This overseas in-camp training (ICT) changed Yap's view of Aloysius.

Apart from highlighting Aloysius' expertise, Yap then shared anecdotes of the kind of person the actor was.

Yap declined to comment when contacted, except to say that he did not expect his post to go viral.

Aloysius' body is expected to arrive in Singapore today. His management announced that a farewell event will be held from Saturday noon to Sunday noon at 82A MacPherson Lane.
