PHOTO: Hala faisal nude “Stop the War”
The naked woman in the Washington Square Park fountain turned at least a few heads. “Stop the War” was painted in red across her backside, down her legs and over her breasts. She had also scrawled something in Arabic that this reporter could not decipher.

Syrian artist Hala Faisal found her way to protest the occupations of Iraq and Palestine by getting naked in Washington Square Park in New York City on Aug. 9. She wrote on her body expressions demanding for the stop of war in Iraq and Palestine.
New York Police arrested her but then released her after only one hour from her detention. She stated: Why nudity? Because I am an artist and this is a metaphor.

Curious tourists craned their necks to get a better look. A few people lounging on the fountain steps applauded lamely. The nude woman, a 49-year-old (2005) Syrian artist named Hala Faisal, pumped her fist toward her supporters. She circled the inside of the fountain several times until a police officer approached and asked her to put her clothes back on, which she did without ceremony. She was then led away to a waiting police car and hurried off to the Sixth Precinct. [2]

The American painter of Syrian origin, Hala Faisal, had taken off her entire clothes at Washington Square in New York City to become completely naked except for anti-war slogans covering her body to protest against official US policy in the Middle East.
What Ms. Hala did, enters into the field of love with controversial physical appearance, such as climbing the Eiffel Tower. There are evidence of how much press coverage will be of the event .... We may be mesmerised by the missing clothes as well as in the words 'Stop the War'.
Update: In official website on the net was beautiful paintings with brilliant colors that express its aesthetic sense. It seems that the amount of effort by Ms. Hala to become naked certainly is being recognised as her contribution to the world of beautiful art. [3]

The Syrian capital, Damascus, has celebrated the famous American-Syrian artist Hala Faisal, who was "naked" in New York in protest against the US war in Iraq by setting up her biggest exhibition at the Four Seasons Hotel, the largest and most modern five-star hotel in Damascus. Faisal, 49 (2005), took off her clothes at the Washington Square Park in New York in 2005 and stood completely naked in front of the media and tourists, writing on her back and in red letters calling for an end to the war in Iraq and Palestine.
"Her invitation to her country Syria to hold this exhibition, which began on 19 February 2007 and continues for a month, is a sign of people's understanding of her protest in 2005," said Hala Faisal, an Arab reporter.
"She expressed her happiness" because people understood That's it. When a person protests such a thing, there are those who accept, and there are those who refuse, and this is ultimately healthy. "In general, people welcomed what I had done and supported me. I had some fear of people reacting against me before coming to Damascus."
She pointed out that she has not yet received a protest step any threat or protest from any side, pointing out that the majority of people understood what it did and "many in Syria considered my protest honourable."
The Hala Faisal exhibition is the largest of its kind in Syria, where the 43 paintings were placed in two halls, large panels with a width of some two meters and more. [4]
