It is common to reach crossroads in our lives when we feel stuck or trapped.  Psychotherapy can provide you with the opportunity to find the path that will set you free from what holds you back from reaching your potential and your ability to transform and thrive.

Feeling down at work? You are not alone, especially on a Monday.

Mr Joseph Wong a behavioural transformation coach and chief leadership facilitator at a behavioural development and consulting house, said being objective about your feelings, and focusing on what you can learn from mistakes can help to make a bad day better.

"We need our willpower to overcome negative emotion. Thus, it is important to look at how we can recharge our willpower to handle our emotion effectively and be ready for the next phase."

Here are Mr Wong's tips on how to Improve your mood at work.

1. Take time out to exercise
When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins that Interact with the receptors ln your brain that reduce your perception of pain, he said.

3.Avoid negative news
Do not watch negative news on TV as it will only reinforce negativity, said Mr Wong.
"It is better to pick up a good book, go for a run, or simply chill out with positive friend."

Nature walks distract people from their own negative thoughts, thus improving their mental health.

Go to the PCN (Park Connector Network) and walk for a few kilometers, preferably in the morning or evening. The cooling air, trees in the wild natures, birds, squirrels, otters, monkeys, and even monitor lizards may fascinate us, and distract us from negative feelings.

Just about everyone who lives in a city can say there are times when it becomes emotionally taxing. Long commutes, tight living spaces, and unpleasant interactions with others are only some of the reasons so many people can’t wait to get out of the city for vacation - many times ending up in areas surrounded by nature.

Whether these vacationers know it or not, they’re improving their mental health, as a growing body of evidence shows green spaces can dramatically improve a person’s sense of wellbeing.

Published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the study found that nature walks reduce a person’s chances of ruminating (to think deeply), which in turn lessens their chances of developing depression and other mental illnesses. People who ruminate mull over particular issues in their life continuously, regardless of how much power they have over them, according to the American Psychological Association. Most of the time, these issues are also negative.
