Everyone knows losing weight involves a healthy combination of exercise and diet.

So if you're doing both and you're still not losing weight, you could be doing something wrong.

According to an article in The New York Times, the best time of the day to exercise is before you have your breakfast.

The article quoted a 2010 study in which researchers found that men who exercised, but after they had eaten breakfast, still put on about 1.4 kg after six weeks.

Not only that, these same group of men had developed insulin problems.

However, the group that had been asked to exercise before they had eaten breakfast had gained almost no weight, and had not developed the same insulin problems.

They were also burning more fat throughout the day, as compared to the other men in the study.

Don't skip meals.

Be careful, though. In your quest to lose weight, you should not be skipping meals.

According to the Health Promotion Board's guidelines, "missing meals may lead to impulsive snacking and overeating and may lower the rate at which the body burns energy".

In the long run, skipping meals may also lead to nutrient deficiencies.
