All of the furnishings in Pirium's dwelling have shapes that ordinary folk would find puzzling. She only rarely invites guests over, but when they do visit they are all perplexed by their surroundings. Pirium looks at their faces and nods knowingly. She's after new, innovative art, which isn't something that others accept easily.

Sitting in a chair that has the shape of a wriggling earthworm, she continues to rack her brains for more revolutionary artistic ideas.

Legend of the Cryptids - (Volition) Caged Demon Fiorentina
PHOTO: Legend of the Cryptids - (Volition) Caged Demon Fiorentina
A horde of wild demons ravaged the city, including to opulent mansion where Fiorentina was held prisoner.

They broke the bars of her cage in an instant, granting her release at last. However, she was still gripped by fear, for freedom meant needing to survive on her own. Her mind briefly lingered back to the cage and its security, but she soon pushed such thoughts out her head. Fiorentina knew it was worth braving the anxiety brought about by liberation to experience happiness.

Fiorentina is a feminine name of Latin origin; the meaning is "blossoming, flourishing, flowering, in bloom". It is derived from the word florens. A variant of Florence (Latin) both masculine and feminine name; Florens is feminine in Polish but masculine in German languages.

A demon, daemon or fiend, is a supernatural, often malevolent being prevalent in religion, occultism, literature, fiction, mythology and folklore. In demonology, a demon is considered an unclean spirit, a fallen angel, or a spirit of unknown type which may cause demonic possession, calling for an exorcism. In Western occultism and Renaissance magic, a demon is a spiritual entity that may be conjured and controlled.

The original Greek word daimon does not carry the negative connotation, it denotes a spirit or divine power, much like the Latin genius or numen. Daimōn most likely came from the Greek verb daiesthai (to divide, distribute).

Volition means an act of making a choice or decision; also: a choice or decision made and/or the power of choosing or determining will

The game is set in the fictional world of Neotellus, a planet orbited by three moons in a distant galaxy. The planet is inhabited by both humans, as well as various creatures known as Cryptids. The game revolves around the on-going conflict between the humans and Cryptids, and a malevolent Cryptid devouring entity known as the Shadow King, who's goal is the destruction of the world of Neotellus and all of its inhabitants.

Wealthier humans had been known to capture and display demons such as the beautiful Fiorentina. Born in captivity, the only world she knew was what she saw through bars or shackled to chains. The haughty owners looked down upon her, convinced that her pure-blooded lineage assured her submissiveness. All she could do was tremble as she continued to endure the disgraceful treatment.

Legend of the Cryptids - Dark Queen Guinevere
PHOTO: Legend of the Cryptids - Dark Queen Guinevere
Guinevere was the legendary Queen consort of King Arthur. In tales and folklore, she was said to have had a love affair with Arthur's chief knight Sir Lancelot. Guinevere and Lancelot's betrayal of Arthur was often considered as having led to the downfall of the kingdom. The Welsh form Gwenhwyfar, which seems to be cognate with the Irish name Findabair, can be translated as "The White Enchantress" or "The White Fay/Ghost".

She will offer any assistance necessary to ensure that Arthur will rule Camelot. Her loyal minions are furtive in their work of eliminating any would-be rebels. It would not be beyond her means to use her dark powers or mesmerizing looks to manipulate the Knights of the Round Table if necessary. Sir Lancelot would also be of great service to the kingdom if he could be persuaded...

Once upon a time, a fearsome being known as the Shadow King appeared without warning. Feeding on the life force of Neotellus’s inhabitants, the Shadow King began to destroy the animals and the forests, annihilating the land and laying waste to all he saw.

The Cryptids felt threatened with extinction, and courageously confronted the Shadow King. But… Even the famed Cryptids began to be defeated, one by one.

His power was too great. However, the human inhabitants of Neotellus at that time were leading peaceful, ordinary lives.

With a few exceptions…

People’s lives began to be disrupted by harsh and violent storms and other strange occurrences, then a rumor started to spread: He who was first aware of the unusual event banded together with Cryptid allies from across the land to defend Neotellus from the Shadow King’s onslaught.

The jungle treasure was in peril of being stolen. The pirate king's crew was plundering all of Neotellus and had supposedly invaded Annalisa's jungle. She ordered the other guardian beasts not to allow any of the filthy scoundrels to lay a single finger on it. As the beasts began to move, the entire jungle itself also seemed to rumble threateningly.

Those who caught wind of the rumor started to call the one who was first aware of the strange occurrences the Hero of Neotellus.

And the Cryptids also began to realize: We cannot defeat the king alone. We need someone who will unite the Cryptids with their common goal.

This person is Neotellus’s Hero. In the hour of darkness the Hero calls for the beasts, and the beasts call for the hero.

Combining their might, they fight together to confront the Shadow King!

Legend of the Cryptids - Verdant Mandrake Nymph
PHOTO: Legend of the Cryptids - Verdant Mandrake Nymph
In Greek mythology, the nymph is a spirit of nature in the form of a beautiful young maiden inhabiting rivers, woods, or other locations. The mandrake is a Mediterranean plant once believed to "shriek" when its roots were pulled from the ground.

The Mandrake will let loose a piercing scream when uprooted during their slumber. By taking the form of a beautiful female, they approach and lure nearby men to sap their life force and store plentiful nutrients in their body.

The central focus of the game is on the collection and enhancing of cards of various levels of rarity, with many cards based on or inspired by traditional myths and legends found in various cultures. The gameplay is very much like many conventional online role-playing games.

All players have an experience bar, as well as a certain amount of attack power and defense power. Players also have an energy bar. These make up the attributes for every player. In order to increase any of these individual attributes, players must level up by gaining experience to fill their bar. As players gain levels, a certain amount of attribute points is awarded for players to spend in either attack power, defense power, and energy.

"Souls passing into death are so beautiful..." Observing that very phenomenon was her reason for living. When the Shadow King emerged from the underworld, she greeted him warmly.

Energy is required to progress through basic Quests, as well as major events. Attack and defense power is required for the purpose of battling other players, with attack power necessary for attacking, and defense power necessary for defending. Additionally, some events also require the use of attack power in order to participate in and advance through them.

Cards in the game can be acquired either through drawing from Card Packs, or as a reward from events.

Additionally, cards can also be traded between players in exchange for various commodities such as Coins, Power Potions, Energy Drinks, or even other cards.

Legend of the Cryptids - (Enforce) Nemesis, Punishment Deity.png
PHOTO: Legend of the Cryptids - (Enforce) Nemesis, Punishment Deity.png
The name Nemesis is related to the Greek word νέμειν [némein], meaning "to give what is due". In Greek mythology, Nemesis (Greek, Νέμεσις), also called Rhamnousia/Rhamnusia ("the goddess of Rhamnous") at her sanctuary at Rhamnous, north of Marathon, was the spirit of divine retribution against those who succumb to hubris (arrogance before the gods). Another name was Adrasteia, meaning "the inescapable."

The Greeks personified vengeful fate as a remorseless goddess: the goddess of revenge.

When she isn't passing judgment, Nemesis sees to it that the malice of dead bereft of a proper burial is steered away from the living. Intimidating as she may be, she proves an invaluable ally to the good-hearted living.

PHOTO: Legend of the Cryptids - (Cannibal) Merissa, Saving Her Baby
Merissa kissed her child and smiled in relief. "Don't worry, baby. Mommy's gonna free you from these nasty chains," she murmured lovingly to the disfigured monstrosity before her. Merissa had used forbidden sorcery to revive her dead child, resulting in his horribly deformed figure. But that mattered not. He was still her baby. So what if he required human flesh as sustenance? How could they imprison her dear child for such a minor infraction? Merissa's ire flared at the thought. She would make them pay for hurting her beloved.
